River's Story
River is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was born in Texas in June 2014. We got him from a breeder when he was 10 weeks old. We’ve always had dogs as family pets because they are such great companions. I am especially drawn to Cavaliers because they are known for loving nothing more than being near their humans. I also always liked having a dog in our family because I think having a dog helps kids learn responsibility and how to care for one another. 
 

At School

River loves going to school. Undeterred by his small size, he excitedly jumps up into the van when it comes to pick us up. At school River likes the admiring "oohs" and "aahs" he receives from kids, as well as the belly rubs and treats, for a job well done.
 

Free Time

River also visits cancer patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering to brighten up their day. When he is not volunteering he likes to hunt squirrels, run errands, snack on carrots and peanut butter, and snuggle in to watch tv with the family.
